Katherine Greef attended Carleton at the same time as Griff Wodtke, a first cousin. She met Terry Anderson (1965) at Carleton and they moved to New York City, where they married and lived in an Upper West side apartment with their two great Danes. Both worked at the New Yorker Bookstore, owned by Peter and Madeline Martin, until they moved upstate, where Katherine worked for the Girl Scouts and was co-founder of a poetry magazine, ”Bones.” After her divorce, Katherine took Austin (mother’s surname) as her last name. She moved back to New York City and took a job at the General Theological Seminary, married a second time to William O’Connell, and had a daughter, Kathleen (Katie) Austin O’Connell (Carleton class of 2005). Katherine died of throat cancer in 1998. Katherine was a truly generous and kind woman, a feminist, a lover of art and literature, and a devoted mother and wife.Alexis K. Wodtke ’66
