John lived next door to me on First Goodhue in 1965, and the next year we roomed together on Third Musser. I left Carleton after my sophomore year, but John and I (and many others from First Goodhue and the class of ’69) have kept in touch all these years. John was a great friend and a good man, and I will miss him a lot. He had an infectious laugh, a sharp wit, a penetrating mind, and most important of all, a big heart. He devoted much of his life to the cause of affordable housing, a noble and most worthwhile calling. John loved Carleton, had fond memories of his time there, and a great appreciation of the value of his Carleton education.

No sweat. White Russian, Miles Davis and Carleton. God bless that man.
