Eric (he used his middle name) was a good friend of mine freshman year. We were to be roommates sophomore year, but he dropped out shortly after school started in the fall -- I don't remember what he said to explain it.
He was a great person, very warm, and an excellent guitarist -- his personality and appearance fit the James Taylor songs that he often played. I was sorry he left.
I never had any contact with him afterwards, but I see from his obituary that he became a craftsman (woodworking). College isn't for everyone.
