Joanne Elin Zack, 58, of Devon, PA passed away peacefully at home on October 4, 2012. Joanne was born in Mt. Kisco, NY on June 24, 1954 to Thomas and Vera Zack. She graduated as valedictorian of Bordentown Regional High School and cum laude from Carleton College. Joanne received her J.D. from New York University Law School and served as clerk for the Hon. Charles L. Brieant in U.S. District Court. She practiced law as an associate with Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton in New York and as partner with Kohn, Swift & Graf in Philadelphia. In 2007, Joanne co-founded Boni & Zack, LLC, Bala Cynwyd, PA where she specialized in anti-trust and commercial litigation. She was a lead attorney representing authors worldwide in landmark copyright litigation against Google. Joanne had a life-long dedication to human dignity and social justice and was named to the Pro Bono Roll of Honor in the First Judicial District of Pennsylvania. Joanne is survived by her husband, Michael Hartung, and her children, Benjamin and Claire Hartung. She is also survived by her mother, Vera Zack, and her three siblings, Cathy, Jonathan, and Jeffrey Zack. Joanne was a loving wife, devoted mother, and inspirational friend. She will be remembered at a celebration of her life on Mon. October 15, 2012 from 6-9pm at Hilltop House, 570 Beaumont Rd, Devon, PA. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory can be made to Doctors Without Borders, Amnesty International, or the American Cancer Society , cancer.org. Arrangements are with Alleva Funeral Home, Inc. Paoli, PA.
