Jacqui was born in Edgemont, South Dakota and came to Carleton from Cottey College in Pierre, South Dakota. An English major at Carleton, she completed a master’s in educational administration at South Dakota State University. Her varied career included teaching Native Americans in Arizona, California, and South Dakota.
She especially loved her time as Educational Coordinator of Alternative Education in a facility for delinquent boys where she developed industrial arts, job skills and reading programs.
For ten years, Jacqui raised an organic garden with many farm animals in North Dakota, and then spent 25 years restoring a lovely 100-year-old log cabin in her beloved South Dakota Black Hills.
In her 50th reunion biography, she wrote that she felt fortunate to have so many experiences outside of her small town world.
She appreciated her lifelong friends. In her words, she “was grateful for the lucky, loving life she had.”
