Obituary
Ingrid Brakss, formerly of Watertown, S.D., died Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2011, at Sanford Health Care Center in Fargo.
She was born Dec. 20, 1952, in Watertown, the daughter of Dr. Valdis and Skaidrite (Ozols) Brakss, who were born and raised in Riga, Latvia. She graduated from high school and went on to Carleton College and South Dakota State University, majoring in the study of genetics and biology. She was a career student always going further to pursue her love of learning and her highly intellectual mind. A highlight of her life, as a confession of her faith, was to be baptized at the First Baptist Church of Watertown in 1998.
Ingrid was a current resident of the Valkommen-Hem Inn, a Licensed Assisted Living home in Fergus Falls.
Her caregivers were Eunice, Deane, JoAnne, Karen, Sarah, Emiline and Nikki. She previously resided in South Dakota and Wahpeton.
She attended CornerStone Evangelical Free Church in Fergus Falls. She also enjoyed art, shopping, Christian retreats, ladies outings, especially with Paula and traveling in various places.
Ingrid rebounded miraculously, at numerous times, from medical conditions.
Survivors include her sister, Ieva (Steven) Porter of Minneapolis and brother, John (Marlene) Brakss of Pierre, S.D.; her adoptive family, Rick and Paula West of Fergus Falls along with a host of friends.
