George was born on August 30, 1942. He grew up in Mahtomedi, Minnesota on the shores of White Bear Lake. His father was an actuary and vice-president of a life insurance company and later started his own computer consulting firm. George graduated from Mahtomedi High School. At Carleton, he was a member of Men’s League and tuba player in the pep band. George left Carleton his first year.
George’s vocation was computer programming. Like his father, he had a passion for sailing. George judged many sailing regattas over the years.
George volunteered for several organizations. He served on the board for the Family Violence Program. He was a member of the Rotary Club, prepared tax returns for AARP members, and volunteered at Second Harvest. He was a board member emeritus of the Century College Foundation.
George died on October 1, 2015. His survivors include his wife Diana, three sisters and a brother as well as stepchildren, nieces and nephews.
