Dean was my roommate all four years at Carleton. I nicknamed him "Dean the Dream" our freshman year, a moniker that only became more apt as our friendship grew. Dean had a gift for accepting people on their own terms, for making them feel good about themselves. I will miss him for the rest of my life. In the words of his favorite poet, W.B. Yeats, "Think where man's glory most begins and ends, and say my glory was I had such friends."
