Dave and I roomed together for most of freshman year, all of soph & junior years, and had adjoining singles senior year. So obviously we got along well. He had a sharp mind and was widely read, a very interesting person to know. Couldn't get away with any sloppy thinking when he was around! In fact, I wish I had known him even better, because there was a lot going on behind that calm demeanor. He was a very serious student, but he could also relax. Even though we lost touch after graduation (well, I lost touch with nearly everyone until 2022), I was very sad when I learned of his passing. I've no doubt that Dr. Antonow served his patients very, very well. RIP, Dave.

Dave took John Anderson and me home with him to Duluth for Thanksgiving our freshman year. I enjoyed that trip to a new part of Minnesota and the time we spent with Dave, his family and friends.

Soon afterwards, several of his friends from Duluth came to visit with a foot locker of alcohol. I was quite impressed with the forethought of his buddy who removed his contacts and put on his eyeglasses before he started drinking so we would not wake up in the morning with the contacts still in.
