Daniel was from Savannah, Georgia. I'm from Albany, Georgia. Both of us being Black and from Georgia gave us a common bond when we met at Carleton as Freshmen. We both helped each other adjust to the academic, climate, and cultural changes we experienced at Carleton. We agreed that making these adjustments provided us a well-rounded educational experiences.
Danny was a beautiful person who exuded warmth and positivity. I feel privileged that I got to know him when he and his roomie lived nearby in 4th Burton senior year.
Daniel was a good friend. We became closer after he moved to Chicago, and I also saw him in DC in his subsequent move there. I was shocked to hear of his early passing. I have fond memories of him.
