Charles “Chuck” Secrest came to Carleton from Helena, Montana, and transferred after one year to the University of Montana, where he received a B.A. in 1963 and a J.D. degree in 1966. He and his wife of almost sixty years, whom he met at the university, soon moved to Olympia, Washington, where he served as an assistant attorney general for the state of Washington. He was survived by his wife, Rosemary Secrest, as well as a son, a daughter, and six grandchildren.
