Chuck Donnell and I first met at a Carleton reunion weekend (his 50th, my 15th), the same reunion at which I was recruited to become a new annual fund volunteer. Over the years he became a mentor, an inspiration, a volunteer colleague, and--most important of all--a friend. His zest for life and unswerving dedication to Carleton inspired me and so many alumni volunteers who had the pleasure of knowing and working with him. I am so glad that I was able to see Chuck this spring when he and Zoe were honored by the College with the William Carleton Medal. My thoughts are with Zoe and all of Chuck's family now.
Chuck will always be a part of Carleton for me. Rest in peace, my friend, unless you're too busy teaching the angels to sing the alma mater.
