Dennis Morton ’66

1 April 2010

Class: 1966

Major: Mathematics

Deceased: December 18, 2008

Dennis was born on February 7, 1944 and passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2008.

His sister, Barbara, reports, “After graduating from Carleton, Dennis began a Master’s program in mathematics at Oakland University.  He left there, however, without completing the degree.  After that he worked in the marketing research department of Republic Steel in Cleveland.  After a couple of years, he moved east and spent the rest of his life in the New York City area.  He worked as a headhunter in the computer field, tutored, and later taught computer related adult education classes.  He was quite interested in acting, which I believe was part of his reason for going to the NY area.  He was a member of Actors Equity, the union for stage performers.  He performed with various groups, but I don’t know if he was ever paid for any of that.  He also developed a one-man show of some kind.  My feeling is that he would have been happier if he could have made his living from acting alone.  He died from cancer that was discovered too late to save him.”

Dennis was a resident of Staten Island, New York.
