Nancy Carol Hough, 1971, succumbed to cancer on June 9, 2020, in Rockville, MD.Nancy was born in the Panama Canal Zone in 1951. After graduation from Wakefield High School in Arlington, VA, she attended Carleton, majoring in Studio Art.Nancy resided in Canada for fifteen years after graduation. During that time she self-published several collections of poetry: Newspaper Poems, 1975; Beacon Stations, 1978; The Ascent, 1981; and a nonfiction work, Two Thousand Souls: Listener Response to Christian Radio, 1986. After returning to California, she was co-author with Granville W. Hough for a series of historical studies dedicated to patriots of the American Revolution from California, New Mexico, Arizona, Texas, and Louisiana (1998-2001).She is survived by brother David Granville Hough, 1968, and sister Bonny Hough Miller.

A couple of her poetry books are available for sale online, under N.C. Hough. She also published, as George Twelftree, two poems in The Carleton Miscellany, 1975-1976 Spring-Summer.
I was married briefly to Nancy from September 5, 1987 to 1988. Reading this obituary brings back a lot of old memories.

I graduated with Nancy back in Wakefield High School in 1966 She was a beautiful, bright, graceful, and gentle soul. I wish I had the privilege of knowing her better and being with her again before she passed.
