Dr. Betsey J. Snider-Lotz, died Saturday, August 6, after a long illness. She was 50. Dr. Snider-Lotz lived in Tucker, and had a private practice as a psychotherapist in the Atlanta area for many years. She was also talented artist and photographer. As a volunteer, she worked to help abused and neglected children, and taught English as a second Language. Dr. Snider-Lotz was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and received her Bachelor’s degree from Carleton College. A highlight of her college years was a summer spent walking more than 300 miles through South America. After moving to Atlanta, she received her Masters degree and Ph.D. in Psychology from Georgia State University. She will be remembered for her lovingness, her intelligence, her sensitivity, her sense of humor, and her ability to cook without a recipe and sew without a pattern. Dr. Snider-Lotz is survived by her husband, Dr. Thomas Snider-Lotz, and her daughter, Elizabeth M. Snider-Lotz, of Tucker; by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. Robert Lotz, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and by her sisters and brothers: Bonnie Bellows of Atlanta, Barbara Lotz of Carmel Valley, California, Brian Lotz of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and W. I remember Betsey as an attractive, super-smart woman who could very easily converse about emotional issues. We both lived in Atlanta, GA at the same time, and ran into each other once or twice. I'm sure she was a great clinical psychologist and I'm sad to think she can't be with us here at the 40th reunion.
