Lawrence E. (Larry) Nelson, born August 14, 1947, died Saturday, May 17th, 2014 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tacoma, WA after losing his battle with cancer. He was born in Minneapolis, MN and grew up in Richfield, MN. He graduated from Carleton College in 1969 and married his college sweetheart, Judy. Larry worked in the brokerage industry for many years and moved to a slower life style as a courier. He loved coaching his son’s baseball team, and even a bit of basketball. His sports passion however was golf and he was looking forward to volunteering for the 2015 U.S. Open near his home. In his spare time he took up cooking and loved feeding friends and colleagues with fresh baked breads. Everyone ate well (and on time) when he was around! He had recently traveled to Italy and fell in love with the country and its people. He also visited and loved Scotland with all of its gold courses. He enjoyed photographing the world and had also taken up drawing in the las year.

He is survived by his loving wife Judy, his daughter Angela, and his son Matt. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Treyphosa, Anthony Jr., and Daphne, as well as his faithful companion dog, Murphy, his father Jack, and his sisters Susie and Sally. He was predeceased by his mother Cathy. A memorial event will take place later this year. He will be sorely missed by all those who knew him. We ask that in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Stand Up 2 Cancer.
