Class: 1964

Deceased: October 16, 2011

Alumni survivors: Ms. Madaline Talamantes ’19 (Grandchild)

David passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on the 16th of October 2011, at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota. He was 69 years old. He was survived by his former wife Colleen Olson and their five daughters: Shannon Ostrowski, Kirsten Olson, Jessica Conway, Alexia Olson and Rachel Olson.
After attending Carleton, David earned a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Minnesota. A life-long resident of Albert Lea, David was known for his many interests. He was a designer, inventor, and patent-holder as owner of Olson Manufacturing. In fact, his research in the 19705 and subsequent design for a V-shaped piston (V—RAM) created a product that facilitated the movement of materials into pumping chambers. This product design became a basis for his manufacturing company, a company still important in the industrial pumps and parts industry.
David enjoyed a love for architectural design and built his family home on Fountain Lake. He enjoyed sports, motorcycles, and taking his family on vacations. He was described in his obituary as a forgiving, generous, and caring man.
