Class: 1966

Major: Economics

Deceased: October 22, 1977

From the Carleton Voice, Winter 1978

Walter W. McDonald, Fox Island, Wash., was killed in a hiking accident in the Cascade Mountains on October 22, 1977.  He was a psychologist for the North Mason School District and was a member of the Summit Alpine Climbing Club of Tacoma.  A graduate of Carleton and the University of Washington, McDonald is survived by his wife, Margaret Rossow ’66, daughter, Amy, his parents, a brother and sister, and grandmother.

————————————-

I can’t believe that Walt has been gone for nearly 40 years. He was a great father and loved the Northwest.  Amy and I have remained here and stayed close to his family in Minn. and N.Y. He would have loved being a grandfather to his 3 grandchildren and introducing them to the joys and beauty of the Northwest, as well as to worldwide travel. He would have been very proud of his Indonesian son-in-law’s new job with Horizon Air and all the perks that the job offers.

Thanks to Carleton and our friends we met there for being a part of our lives then and now.
