Class: 1963

Residence: Jamesville, NY

Deceased: June 19, 2015

An obituary from the Syracuse Post-StandardPaul E. Harris, 74, of Fayetteville, NY died Friday June 19, 2015 after an all-too-short but valiant battle with cancer. Born in Ann Arbor, MI, son of the late Bradley M. and Mildred P. Harris. He was a 1959 graduate of Ypsilanti High School who received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from University of Michigan, and his Masters in Public Administration from Syracuse University. His first career was in educational planning, retiring from Oswego County BOCES, but he continued to work at Shop City H&R Block as a tax preparer until last year (2014), and in the DeWitt Wegman’s bakery department until just this April. To know him was to smile, become part of his great family of friends, partake in his thoughtful wisdom and perhaps endure one of his many terrible jokes…delivered with great care, timing, cadence and attention to detail. He favored Sousa marches as well as musicals such as Camelot, Man of La Mancha and Pirates of Penzance, the last of which was no doubt to swoon at Linda Ronstadt’s voice. He most enjoyed rich, salty characters such as Christie’s Poirot or Mortimer’s Rumpole of the Bailey. His love of sports, especially college athletics, was epic, often watching one game on TV while listening to another by radio. His most beloved sport was football and his team was the Michigan Wolverines, however he adopted all of the Syracuse teams and was a huge fan of Jim Boeheim.Surviving are his wife of 37 years, the former Victoria Rae Hickman; two sons: Brian (Catherine) and David (Kimberly), and a stepson, Clayton; four grandchildren, Kera, Theo, Mason, and Ethan; and two brothers: Tom and Mark; as well as seven nieces and nephews: John, Victoria, Rebecca, Megan, Isabel, Lillian, and Jaime. He is predeceased by two brothers: John and David. To express sympathy, please visithttp://www.dewittmemorial.com/
