About the speaker
Layla Oesper is an associate professor of computer science at Carleton, where she has taught since 2015. As a computational biologist, she develops methods to elucidate the evolution of cancerous tumors based on DNA sequencing data. She is recognized as a leader in the field, with numerous publications and presentations in computer science, bioinformatics, and biology journals and conferences, and her research has been supported by prestigious grants and awards from the National Science Foundation.
