As we ride out what may be planet Earth’s hottest summer on record, the Gift Committee is warming up to welcome your participation in the Class of 1975’s efforts to sustain the College’s mission and accessibility. We are excited to introduce The Class Gift, about which you can read more here. Our gift will create the Class of 1975 First at Carleton Endowed Fund to help first-generation students take advantage of all the opportunities that Carleton has to offer. This support comes in the form of academic advising, life skills development, mentoring, and other organized activities that build confidence, community, and connections that last a lifetime.
Building up this fund is directly aligned with the College’s long-term strategic vision, and it will have both an immediate and a lasting impact for the first-generation students it benefits. The Reunion Planning Committee is so enthusiastic about supporting this project that we are putting up more than $100,000 in challenge funds that will match our classmates’ gifts to the ’75 First at Carleton Fund in our 50th Reunion year.
Of course, there are many ways to meet other College needs that may strike a chord for you, and the Gift Committee volunteers are happy to have a conversation about how best to celebrate our upcoming reunion with your gift. Contributions of any size are welcome in the form of cash or securities, as well as planned giving via estate planning, which earns you membership in the Heywood Society.
