As we come together for our 50th Reunion, we seek to both give back and to shape and strengthen our alma mater for today’s generation of students. On the occasion of our 50th, we each have the opportunity to direct our gifts to initiatives that resonate most with us, and all gifts will be recognized in our 50th class total.
Inspired by Carleton’s strategic direction, we have established a Class of 1975 First at Carleton Endowed Fund to promote success for current and future first-generation students through the expansion of programs that build confidence, community, and connections for a lifetime.
In 1971, we were a freshman class of 480 students. In 1975, 350 of us graduated. Whatever our background, we had plenty of self-doubt along the way. If we thrived, it was often because there came a moment when we realized that we belonged at Carleton.
For many First Generation students, however, that moment too often never arrives. The Class of 1975 First at Carleton Endowed Fund will promote success for current and future first-generation students by building confidence, community and connections that last a lifetime. Support services such as academic advising, life skills development, mentoring, organized social activities and regular informal gatherings will
- encourage a sense of belonging
- support pride in accomplishments
- connect people with college resources
- build community among peers
so that everyone can benefit from the wealth of Carleton’s opportunities, thriving as accomplished students and confident graduates.
There are many ways to give to 1975’s Class Fund – or to another college need that strikes a chord for you – and your Gift Committee volunteers are knowledgeable guides. We hope the resources on these pages will help you think about how you can support our 50th Reunion Class Gift and Carleton.
Carleton staff are also on hand to assist with 50th giving:
- Sarah Forster, Director of Milestone Reunions – 866-208-3889
- Kelly Rowan, Senior Development Officer – 866-208-3889
Thank you for coming together to celebrate our 50th Reunion with a transformative Class Gift for Carleton!
