Photo Montage–Take the CHALLENGE!
12 April 2018Throughout reunion weekend a photo montage of our class will be on exhibit in Watson. Tom Kenyon has found, and classmates have forwarded to him, many never-seen-before photos. (Keep it up, its not too late! Send scans or digital copies to thomaswkenyon@aol.com). Some will be circulating on a TV screen (thank you Steve Bayne), and others on view boards and in 3-ring binders. Stop by often through the weekend to see photos, and other memorabilia classmates are bringing to reunion.
Bonus: A “Class Archive of Photographs” is being created by Tom and Steve Bayne and can be viewed at the link below. Images are being added to this collection daily so visit this site often.

Registration in Process!
27 March 2018As of March 29, 120 of our classmates have already registered. We hope you are included in this number.
Even if you might be commuting in for just a day, registering will assure you can join us for all receptions, meals, in our hospitality area, plus have access to all programs/concerts/events. You’ll also get our class identity item, a class photo, and a super fancy nametag telling the world you made it back after 50 years! A real bargain. Sign up now: go.carleton.edu/reunion. And be sure to look over the Who’s Registered list. If you don’t see someone on this list whom you would dearly like to see, contact them now!
For those of you who hadn’t registered by March 19, watch for contact from a member of our 50th Reunion Planning Group. We’ll be following up the registration mailing with calls and emails. We’re looking forward to seeing each of you.
Register soon if you want to stay on campus! Space is limited, but still available as of today.

Bird Walk — Saturday
16 March 2018Saturday, June 16th, 2018
7:00 – 8:00 am / Watson Hall–Japanese Garden
Join classmates for a casual, moderately strenuous walk through “birdy” places in and near the Arb. The walk will be led by Bob and Linda Mazanec, amateur bird enthusiasts, looking to see what the area has to offer.
We will gather at the Japanese Garden behind Watson and walk around potential hot spots for an hour or so. Novices, experienced birders, and in-between are all welcome.
Bring binoculars if you can, plus field guides if you wish, although we will have field guides to share. Dress for the weather conditions.

Carleton Photos and Memorabilia
16 March 2018For anyone who would like to share photos of our time at Carleton or of past reunions: Please scan copies of digital photos and add a brief description of each photo, including identification of classmates in the photo. Send to thomaswkenyon@aol.com. We hope to have a large photo display Thursday evening at the Weitz Center for our Class of ’68 Reception and Dinner. Thank you!
If anyone has Carleton memorabilia to share at Reunion, please know that, while we welcome you and anything you bring, there is very little room in the Watson Lounge to set up displays. We want to make sure that we can devote all available space to celebrating Who We Are Today…Still An Experiment!

Prime the Pump
16 March 2018THE ARTS have been important in the lives of our classmates–singing, writing, pottery, fiber arts, instrumental music. Some describe studying art at Carleton and being guided by professors. Some took what they learned and pursued artistic careers. Many returned to artistic interests as they aged out of jobs. Listed here are just a few of our classmates with brief excerpts from their comments on how the arts have enriched their lives. Clicking on the name takes you back to their full bio.

Response to 4:1 Challenge is Gangbusters!
16 March 2018In less than two months since we announced that members of the Planning Group had pledged $200,000 to match gifts to the Class of 1968 Scholarship Fund, classmates’ gifts have fully absorbed the original 4:1 Challenge fund!
And there’s even more good news! Thanks to a couple of anonymous classmates, another $50,000 in challenge dollars is now available until April 15 or until funds run out. This means gifts of all sizes made to the ’68 Scholarship Fund will continue to be matched 4:1. New legacy commitments also trigger $13,600 in matching cash dollars to the ’68 Scholarship Fund. Here are the challenge parameters.
If you haven’t yet made a gift—cash or “legacy”—in recognition of the 50 years that have passed since our graduation, please consider what our classmate Linda Clader says about her reasons for giving. Linda brings a unique perspective, being not only an alum but also a former member of Carleton’s faculty.

Nearing a record…only four more people needed
16 March 2018The class of 1968 has a chance to break a record in honor of reunion. With 73 Heywood Members, we are only four people away from becoming the class with the most members of the Heywood Society in Carleton’s history!
Some people are motivated by the chance to set a record. If you’re one of those folks, and you haven’t already made a “legacy” gift to Carleton by naming the College as a beneficiary of your will, a retirement account, etc., making such a gift now—becoming a member of the Joseph Heywood Society (classmate couples count as two!)—can help the Class of 1968 set a record and triggers matching funds from the 4:1 Challenge, too.
We thank the following classmates who are already members of the Heywood Society.
Click here for more information about ways you can make a “legacy” gift, or call Jennifer Foth at Carleton, 507-222-4276. And if you act promptly, your gift can still qualify for the extended 4:1 Challenge.

More than Half of 4:1 Challenge Funds Already Claimed!
22 February 2018In barely a month since it was first announced, your response to the 50th Reunion Planning Group’s 4:1 Challenge has been fantastic. As of today, cash and legacy gifts from members of our class, plus matching dollars, have generated over $346,183 for the Class of 1968 Scholarship Fund. About $76,639 of the 4:1 Challenge Fund’s original $200,000 remain to be claimed by April 15, 2018. Give now to get your gift matched 4:1 and help future Carleton students graduate debt-free.
Take advantage of this opportunity NOW to make your gift in support of future Carleton students go even further. Make your gift or pledge of cash or stock, or give your 2018 RMD from your IRA tax free, or make a legacy gift before the matching funds run out.
Thank you very much for your generosity!
