Engaging with Artificial Intelligence at Carleton College

Recent advances in Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology, particularly the availability of generative AI tools (GAI or GenAI) have the potential to transform the ways we work, communicate, and create. Carleton College is committed to teaching students how to use these tools ethically, equitably, and sustainably by actively exploring the many difficult questions that this technology raises.

While recent AI developments may be extensions of existing tools, the innovations are nontrivial and require particular care. Exploring the potential benefits and drawbacks of AI will require sustained engagement from the entire Carleton community: faculty, students, and staff. This site will serve as a central hub to connect all Carls with information and resources about AI and its potential applications to your work.

The links below will connect you with resources developed across campus to help Carls learn, teach, and work with AI. If you don’t see what you need or have a question for Carleton’s AI Core Team, please use the “Ask a Question” form to let us know!

Spring 2025: Carleton has started a pilot of Amplify GenAI, a platform that provides students, staff and faculty with secure and customizable AI exploration. This platform supports a variety of large language models (LLMs). A key aspect of Amplify GenAI is its privacy and security.
