Accepted Student Days

April 12-13 and April 19-20

April 12-13 and April 19-20

Congratulations on your acceptance to Carleton!

Accepted Student Days help you experience life as a Carl. You’ll choose your own schedule once you arrive on campus. We encourage you to sit in on a class or two, chat with our students and profs, and explore what our great small town has to offer.

You’ll choose your classes and most activities once you arrive on campus. But you must register in advance of your arrival for the welcome dinner, overnight stay with student hosts, and the airport shuttle service. You should choose one of the weeks to attend. The programming for both is identical. If you can’t make either one, you can arrange a visit when it’s convenient for you.

Ready to register?

We can’t wait to see you April 12-13 or April 19-20
(online registration closes one week prior to the event)

Details about Accepted Student Days

Your family is welcome at Accepted Student Days. There are many activities planned for all visitors, and there is also ample opportunity to explore campus and Northfield. Here are some of our recommendations for things for families to do on campus and around town.

Getting Here

Many admitted students will fly into MSP, a major international airport that’s just under an hour away from campus. You can arrange transportation to campus on your own, or you (and your family) can sign up for one of our shuttles to and from Terminal 1 (the Lindbergh Terminal) at MSP. The shuttle costs $10 in cash per rider, each way, and shuttle fees will be collected when you check in.

If you are arriving at Terminal 2, we will have staff available to direct you to the free Light Rail Transit (LRT) service between Terminals 1 and 2.

Please allow at least 45 minutes between when your flight arrives and when the shuttle leaves for Carleton. If you are arriving at Terminal 2, allow at least 60 minutes.

Shuttles depart from MSP airport on the following times, arriving at Carleton approximately one hour later:

  • Thursday: – 11:45 p.m., 12:45 p.m., 1:45 p.m., 2:45 p.m. and 3:45 p.m.

Shuttles depart from Carleton on the following times, arriving at the airport approximately one hour later:

  • Friday: 2:20 p.m., 3:30 p.m., 4:40 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
(please allow 3 hours between bus departure time and flight time)

You can also arrange your own transportation to and from campus.

Welcome Dinner

We’re delighted to welcome you and your family for dinner with campus community members. You can also spend Thursday night in the residence halls with a Carleton student host. Please register in advance for either option.

Overnight Stay

An overnight with a current Carl is a helpful part of Accepted Student Days. Staying in the residence halls will give you a glimpse of the life of a Carl. (Don’t worry, we still give you the freedom to choose your own classes and schedule while you’re on campus!) We’ll match you up with your host after dinner on Thursday. We suggest bringing a sleeping bag, towel, change of clothes, toiletries, and a sense of adventure! Families are invited to investigate options at local hotels, and blocks of rooms are reserved at Country Inn and AmericInn.

All set?

Once you have submitted your registration, you will receive an automatic e-mail summary of your request. After your request has been reviewed and processed, you will receive a second e-mail confirmation with further information. Please call the Admissions Office at 1-800-995-2275 if you need to make any changes to your registration or have any questions. We look forward to seeing you soon!
