Winter term is over in five days, so Chase looks back at his term and looks forward to what he has left: two more terms and graduating early.

Not going to lie, winter term has been pretty busy! That said, I’ve had a number of great memories that I’ve been lucky to have on record through photos:
- I’ve spent a long time perfecting my guzheng skills with the help of my instructor, Gao Hong, and by the end of this term I’ll have learned to play around six songs since starting winter of my sophomore year (top left)
- I performed with Karl-Pop at Lunar New Year to my absolute favorite K-pop song, “Playing with Fire” by BLACKPINK (top center)
- Mid-winter ball was a great opportunity to dress up and have a legitimate excuse to do so (top right)
- One of my best friends visited from a study abroad program and it was nice to reconnect with friends I made my freshman year when she visited (bottom)
I am eagerly awaiting spring term, but before that is spring break. This spring break won’t be a vacation for me, however: I’ll be working full time at admissions as an office assistant with the added duties of giving tours…starting the day after finals end!
Spring term will be bittersweet, too, because it’ll be my penultimate term at Carleton. I calculated the amount of credits I’ve amassed in addition to the AP credits I earned and with a little planning and help from my major adviser I’ll be able to graduate fall term of my senior year. As a result, I’ve decided to really prioritize spending time with people who matter most at this school, because now I’m a “quasi-senior” although I still count as a member of the Class of 2019.
Hope you all have a lovely spring break and, for all the RD prospies out there, don’t stress out too much before admissions decisions are released on Thursday, March 22 at 8pm CST!
Chase is a junior linguistics major and is more than glad to exchange the year-round California heat for some Minnesota seasonality. In his free time, he enjoys directing K-pop dances for Karl-Pop, playing guzheng, and cycling around Northfield. When Chase doesn’t have free time, which is often, he’ll be in the libe or Sayles with a cup (or cups) of chai tea in hand.
