Who’s your Valentine?

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!

I trust that you will have a wonderful day with your beloved. If not, friends. And if you are very desperate for love and companionship, have you signed yourself up for Datamatch?

For those of you who don’t know Datamatch, here is a description directly quoted from their website:

“Datamatch is a free matchmaking service created for college students by college students to find true love. In 1994, the Harvard Computer Society began the program, originally meant for Harvard students — but as of recently, Datamatch has now spread to over twelve schools, with plans to expand to more! Take our survey and leave it to us and our top secret Algorithm™ to find you true love. This is primarily meant to be humorous and casual, but there’s always a chance of finding a lasting relationship. It has become a Harvard Valentine’s Day tradition, with over 80% of the student body annually signing up.”

Cool, right? The best thing about Datamatch is that you don’t have to be matched to a potential love; you can also use this website to find besties!

All you have to do is to have a valid email provided by your school (in this case, Carleton), fill out some basic information, and take a survey. Datamatch will do the rest for you! It’s kinda like Tinder but for college students, and probably is much safer than Tinder as well.

You will be matched with Carleton students, or you can also be matched with other students from other schools on the list (at least I think so. Probably not, since I got matched with all Carleton students, lol). But Datamatch is a very helpful tool if you don’t want to be lonely this Valentine’s. You can also get free meals (!!!) (or maybe not. Worth a shot though amirite?)

The website is launched every year, a week before Valentine’s. If you are looking for a lover, a bestie, or a frenemy, either way, what’s keeping you from signing yourself up and let the world know you are fun, lovable and open to open relationships?

My experience with Datamatch has been very positive. Though the website loads a bit slowly, it is very user-friendly and cool-looking, easy to navigate and very simple. No trouble, no difficulties at all!
