Hello loyal reader, allow me to take you through my week. I attended a talk on “Constructing Childhood in the Modern Islamic World.” It was interesting and engaging.

The following day, I shared stories about Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting, and ate delicious, spiced food during the annual Eve of Ramadan Dinner hosted by the Muslim Students Association and the Chaplain’s office. I had a great time and inhaled copious amounts of food while sitting on beautiful green grass with friends. Promptly after, I headed to my P.E. class.

Thursday was the first day of Ramadan. After yoga class, I posted my first blog as part of the Summer Internship and Career Readiness Program under the Career Center and the funding they provide to students.

Later in the evening, I had dinner with my Resident Assistant (RA) cohort and Area Director in LDC dining hall. We discussed important dates and preliminary expectations and played a few team-building games. From there, the cohort headed to the Great Hall for the first peer leader training with next year’s peer leaders from offices such as OIIL and the Chaplain’s. This is the first of many trainings for peer leaders to help make Carleton accessible to all.

Friday was a whirlwind of a day. I met with my advisor to discuss course options for Fall 2018. It was a productive meeting and I look forward to the coming school year.

I visited a relative of mine who lives in Woodbury. We had a great time thrift shopping and catching up.

Thanks for reading.

Until next time,

Jelilat

As a selectively-proud Houstonian, Jelilat is undecided in her major, and could be more concerned about her life after college. Meh. She’ll get there. She enjoys thriller novels, compulsive online shopping, and skipping the “It” movie advertisements when they come on. Jelilat also enjoys taking #OutfitofTheDay pics, spending time with people with very loud laughs, and learning more about her fellow peers’ experiences, interests, and perspectives.
