Welcome 2020 Summer Fellows!

Drum roll please …

Welcome to our five 2020 Summer Admissions Fellows! Joey, Katie, Lucy, Matthew, and McKenna will be blogging this summer. Learn more about each of them below and stay tuned for their updates in the weeks to come!

First up, Joey Silknitter. Joey is an American Studies major with interests in Educational Studies, club soccer, ultimate Frisbee, and club cross-country skiing. When on campus, you can find Joey writing satire for the Carleton Salt, dancing at the social dance club, playing foosball in Sayles, or burrowing into the Libe.

Next, Katie Landacre. Katie is a senior English Major from Chisholm, MN. On campus, Katie is a Resident Assistant (RA), is involved in theater, hangs out with her friends in Sayles, and enjoys drawing in the Arb. In this current moment, Katie is probably playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Now, meet Lucy Cui. Lucy is a rising junior who studies biology and Cinema and Media Studies (CAMS). Lucy grew up all over the world: in China, the U.S., the U.K., and Germany. When on campus, Lucy sings in acapella and is a liuqin player of the Chinese music ensemble. Outside of classes you will sure find her busy capturing animals all over campus!

Here’s Matthew Rasmussen. Matthew is a junior Computer Science major. He splits his time between Oberlin, Ohio and Walla Walla, WA. On campus, he spends his time singing in the Carleton Choir and playing football for the Knights. Over the summer, Matthew is trying to find a way to both eat amazing food and stay active — the eternal struggle.

And last, but not least, please meet McKenna Wirth. McKenna is quite familiar with the Admissions Office as a volunteer tour guide and overnight host! She is a Russian and Psychology double major whose favorite season is, in fact, winter.  While not on campus, McKenna is currently playing Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in her free time.
