Hey Y’all,

Last weekend I finally checked one item off my bucket list. I finally went traying. After a few hilarious incidents, I think I got it down to a science. So I thought I’d share some tips on traying. Now it’s important that you listen to everything I tray… I mean say (LOL).

When to go?

Normally people will go traying when the sun is up. Well, I’m not normal, my friends, and I went traying at 8:30 PM when it was dark and isolated. Attempt this at your own risk! The night was better in my opinion because it added on to the thrill of traying.

FRIENDS!

Everything is better with friends. Traying is not fun if you don’t have someone laughing at you or colliding with you. So make sure to grab a friend for this very reason.

LDC trays vs Burton Trays

This is probably the most heavily debated topic in the traying world. Although LDC is closer to Evans Hill than Burton, Burton has the superior trays. The sleek design of the burton trays allows you to go faster or farther without tipping over, at least so I’ve heard.

Proper Traying Etiquette

The proper etiquette for traying depends on the experience you are trying to have. If you want to walk away injury-free and no laughs then I suggest you lean back and keep your hands inside the moving tray at all times. However, if you’re all for the laughs and the near-death experiences, you may want to hold hands.

Holding hands with your friends while going down the hill increases the momentum. It also causes you guys to bump into each other, fall off your trays and roll down the hill. After the collision, you’ll sit for about 1 minute laughing and wondering why would you do something so stupid. I strongly discourage you leaning forward, you’ll probably fall off your tray and roll uncontrollably to the bottom of the hill. Sorry, Manny.

If you fall it’s okay, the snow will break your fall, literally. If you’re visiting Carleton in the next coming weeks be sure to wear extra layers and grab a tray from Burton. You won’t regret it!
