St. Paul Sleepover and end of 10th Week

It’s the end of classes and the beginning of finals at Carleton. While everyone is in study-mode, it’s easy to see that all of us are ready for our winter break.

This week flew by. I say that a lot, but this week seems like it didn’t even happen. What helped it fly by was staying in St. Paul over the weekend. I’m super grateful to my friend Sidra who allowed me and Lucy to stay at her house over the weekend. I’m also so happy that she even wanted us to stay at her house in the first place.

We ate lots of good food. Sidra took us to a ramen place Friday night and after we went to Target to buy too much candy. We ended up eating all the candy while watching the movie Hereditary, which was probably one of the scariest movies I’ve ever watched. I’m still debating whether I’m glad I watched it (because I love horror movies) or if I regret ever seeing it (because it was that scary). Either way, it was a fun first night in St. Paul.

The next day we went to the Mall of America. I spent way too much money and the entire time I was very overwhelmed by the size of the mall and how they managed to fit an entire theme-park inside. I’m happy that I finally got to visit the Mall of America; I feel like it is one of the many things I now get to cross off the “Living-in-Minnesota” checklist. After spending too much time at the mall, we went back to Sidra’s house and did lazy teenager things before eating dinner. (Her parents made us dinner and it was so nice to have a home cooked meal. Thank you Sidra’s parents!)

Finally, on Sunday we began our day by watching Harry Styles host SNL. (He did amazing.) We then went to a late breakfast with Sidra’s parents and ate more amazing food. It was nice to sit at a restaurant and talk with everyone. After, we went to an art store and got some tea. Very wholesome end to the weekend.

That was the start to my 10th week. As I previously mentioned, it flew by. It’s probably because we only had three days of actual classes and in all of my final classes my professors brought us some type of food (usually cookies). I’ll admit that it was an easy week for me because I technically have only one final. My two other classes had a final project/final paper, so I got out fairly easy.

My goal over the weekend is to study for my Spanish final on Monday and get myself packed to leave the same day. I changed my flight from Wednesday to Monday because my step-mom coaxed me into leaving earlier. I would’ve been fine with leaving Wednesday, because Sidra’s amazing family would’ve let me stay in their house and dropped me off at the airport. However, I’m happy that I’ll get to see my family earlier. I wish myself and every other Carl good luck with their finals. Happy end of 10th Week!
