Read what Jevon is looking forward to during Spring term

It’s Spring term! The weather is going to be nice. The hammocks will come out. The bright vibrant clothing is in season. Love on Top by Beyoncé will be the most played song on your playlist. So far I’m feeling this “vibe” that spring will be the best term yet! Here’s a list of everything or mostly everything I’m looking forward to this term:

1) Sproncert

Spring Concert or “Sproncert” is a Carleton Tradition that happens every spring. Even though I have no idea who the special guest, is I’m looking forward to the amount of fun I’ll have by just hanging out with friends. I’m hoping it’s someone good — last year Aminé performed.

2) Rotblatt

From what I’ve heard it’s just a day with live music, good food, and baseball from sunrise to sunset.

3) Gender and Sexuality in the African Diaspora

This is the first Africana Studies class that I’ve taken at Carleton, and so far it seems really fun and interesting. This is also the first humanities course I’ve enrolled in my short time here at Carleton. Dr. Marlon Bailey, our professor, has a great sense of humor which is great to lighten the mood when talking about deep issues surrounding sexuality in our society.

4) Spanish

I’m almost done with my language requirement and I’m having fun. Carleton’s language program is a little different because professors teach by immersion. I’m really lucky because I have Professor Fernando again this term. He’s arguably the best Spanish professor at Carleton and believe me he has some competition.

5) Warm Weather

After ten weeks of cold weather and grey skies, I’m ecstatic for warm weather. I’m excited to see the arb become green again and hearing the ducks as I walk across the bridge to go to the Rec. Also, I’m just looking forward to doing homework outside and soak up all the Vitamin D I can.

6) BSA

I’m excited to start the projects planned in BSA. I think everyone is ready to get active and outdoors as the time gets warmer.

7) Accepted Students Days

I can’t believe it’s been a year since I’ve decided to commit to Carleton. I’m excited to meet all the accepted Carls and talk about what makes Carleton a special place. If you see me on your tours or so happen to be in my class please don’t be scared to say Hi. I promise I’m very friendly.

8) The Bald Spot Opening??

The Bald Spot has been “under renovation” since I’ve started Carleton in September. I’m looking forward to seeing the abundant green space in the center of the Campus. The “word on the street” is It will be ready before graduation, so hopefully I’ll be able to play Frisbee on it before going home for the summer.

See you next week!
