This Spring term has probably been my favorite term at Carleton. The students are renewed by the sun returning and the campus is alive with so many different activities every day. I could explain further, but I think it would be more fun to show you what I mean. So, here are photos that represent everything I love about Carleton in the spring.
Seeing snow for the first time since being abroad
The Chapel in the Spring (total weather shift)

Making Breakfast with Friends (more like, they made breakfast and I was emotional support)

It finally being warm enough to wear short sleeves!

The 24 Hour Improv Show (yes, they did perform for a full 24 hours)

Baking and Movie Nights with Friends (not that you can’t do this other terms. It’s just better in the spring)

Performing (with friends and alone)

Campus in the sunshine!

Making New Friends (yes, you can make new friends even if you aren’t a first year)

Spring Sunsets

As you can see, the last 7 weeks have been filled with changing weather, new friends and appreciation for Carleton’s campus. Spring term really has it all — random improv shows that really do go on for 24 hours, theater, dance and music performances, and best of all: students laying out on the grass on a warm afternoon. If you have a chance to visit Carleton in the spring, I would really recommend it. There’s nothing like May in Northfield.
Kate (she/her) is a sophomore History major from the Bay Area, California. She loves Carleton’s artsy community, and is involved in both the Theater and Dance department and Vocal Studies Program. Kate’s favorite places on campus are the practice rooms, either in Myers or the Weitz, where she can sing or play the ukulele. She loves the campus during all the seasons, but fall is definitely her favorite. When not in class, you can find Kate either petting the nearest cat or forcing her friends to watch bad movies in a study room.
