Hey, hey!

Welcome back to Carleton. Spring Term is here, and I hope that you all are as excited as I am to get this over with. Just kidding.

I have really high hopes for Spring Term, mostly because it is Spring and there is no more snow on the ground. The weather is so nice; you don’t have to bundle up in order to get from buildings to buildings anymore. It’s almost as if you are reliving Fall Term.

All of the drastic changes happened during Spring Break! I honestly couldn’t imagine that it did not take that long for the extremely thick snow bed to melt completely. Speaking of Spring Break, I went to Gettysburg on a leadership trip/seminar (just like I told you guys in my previous blog posts). The program is organized by Mr. Jeff Appelquist, an alumnus of Carleton College, and the Career Center. And trust me when I say that this is the best program I have ever attended in my life! Besides the extremely valuable information and experience that I gathered throughout the trip, it was a really beautiful bonding experience for me. I would rather think that I am not a sentimental person, but this program really made me a better person (I made a lot of new friends and I socialized a lot. I spoke up more and was really proactive all the time — at least I would like to think so, haha. So yeah, better person! Highly recommended! This program has my full endorsement.)

I also went to visit my aunt in Houston, Texas. The weather was nice (too windy for my taste, but hey, it is super windy in Carleton as well).

So. Spring Term. Pretty exciting, isn’t it? Besides the fact that this is the last term before we all can go back home for a really long vacation/break (and for international students like I am, a chance to visit our family after almost a year of not meeting them face-to-face), Spring Term definitely offers you a bunch of opportunities to. . .uhm, better yourself? There are tons of job offers on the market (check out Carleton Peer Leaders + Student Career Assistant + Writing Consultant Applications), new off-campus study programs to look forward to, and I don’t know about you, but I have been, for some reasons that I cannot quite put my finger on, motivated to live a better life. Also, spring is supposedly the ideal season to visit the Arb, so get on to it!

Another exciting thing: Accepted Student Days! This year, you can book a visit to Carleton College, theschoolofyourdreamandiamdefinitelysurethatisthecase, on April 11–12 and 18–19. Have you signed up yet? If you haven’t, do it now to meet with the awesome and inspiring students of this school as well as the amazing professors and the beautiful campus (trust me, the pictures online do this campus no justice whatsoever — you’ve got to see it to believe it). I can go on and on about the beauty of this school, but I think I have made my point. I have no prior experience with ASD, mostly because I was accepted ED, and some people told me that ASDs are for students who got in RD so that they have a chance to experience the school before making a final decision. Well, guess what, prepare to get your mind blown because I dare say this is the ideal final destination for you. And if not, it’s fine! We all have our preferences.

This term, I am taking Linear Algebra, Physics and Art History. Some pretty hard courses, I would say that I really pushed my limits there. But I believe that with proper studying and diligence, I will pull through this term with grace and pride. What about you? What’s your plan for the next few month?
