This post is going to be a little different. When I first got this job, I was excited to learn that posts could come in many forms, including portfolios of sorts full of pictures we take of various Carleton occurrences. As a passionate amateur photographer, I knew I wanted to take advantage of that opportunity, and today I finally went out and did so! Since there was a blizzard last night, I figured today would a perfect, fluffy-powder-coated choice. I now present Carleton, post-blizzard…

A view of Leighton Hall from the Libe, covered in snow
Libe statue + snow!
Photo of wind marks in the snow (1 of 3)
Unexpected wind-mark patterns in the snow – probably normal for most people, but very new and rather hypnotizing to me!

More patterns, plus a pretty Leighton Hall!!

More patterns!!! I honestly don’t know why they amaze me so much but they do

The Memorial Chapel, pristine as always
Trees outside of Skinner Memorial Chapel topped with snow
Snow-topped trees are my new favorite thing I think
Large pile of snow next to Skinner Memorial Chapel
Another BigSnoChungus™, right in front of the chapel!
Lucas making a silly face in a selfie in front of a comparatively large snow pile
Me in front of the second Chungus, for comparison. It’s taller than I am!
The under-construction Integrated Science Center covered in snow
Our Integrated Science Center in development – can’t wait for it to be finished
Cassat Hall covered in snow
Home Sweet Cassat, complete with a new white roof 🙂
Bikes partially submerged in snow outside of Cassat Hall
The bikes are drowning – we must save them!!

So yeah, this place can make nature lovers and photographers alike very happy. I hope you enjoyed my pictures!

Lucas is in his freshman year at Carleton, bringing with him a passion for all things nerdy and a talent for overthinking and awkwardness (and self-deprecation). He hails from Pasadena, California, and yes, he realizes it gets cold out here. Currently wildly undecided, he can see himself attempting a Physics and Cinema and Media Studies double major, although ChemistryEconomics, and Computer Science (among many other subjects) have been tempting him as well. He misses his bearded dragon.
