Hello people! Hello spring!

It’s the end of week 3 of the term at Carleton and it’s starting to feel like spring! It’s also accepted students day, and I saw many prospective students today. Welcome, welcome, welcome!

Lately, I’ve been having some problems, where I can’t concentrate, especially during class, and begin an inner dialogue with myself. Has anyone ever struggled with this, or is it just me? Anyway, here are some dialogues that took place in my mind.

1) Math struggles

When: When I was doing my math homework.
Key lines:
“Do I need really need credits for this class” “I can’t even subtract without using a calculator. Why am I in this class?” “Math would be so much easier if they left out the letters.” “The 8 I just wrote looks like a snowman lol”

2) Snowball Earth

When: When I was learning about the concept of snowball Earth during my Paleobiology class.
Key lines:
“If Earth was a snowball, Venus and Mars could have a snowball fight.” “Minnesota is a snowball.”

3) Pre-sleep conversations

When: Just before I went to sleep Thursday night.
Key lines:
“If sleep is for the weak, then I am proud to be weak.” “It’s easier to stay up until 6am than to wake up at 6am.” “To sleep, or not to sleep, that is the question.”

I promise I will have more interesting posts next week! I sometimes wish I had an interesting life story that are portrayed in movies and books, but who has those, right? The closest things I could think of that are interesting happen in a small blob of mine called the brain. Sometimes my brain likes to talk.

I hope you all had some fun reading the voices of my blob!

An is a freshman from Japan who is thankful that Minneapolis has a direct flight from Tokyo. She loves animals, both stuffed and alive, and one of the hardest parts of packing for college for her was choosing which plushie to bring to Carleton or, sadly, leave at home. She is currently undecided about her major and is excited to explore new subjects.
