Hey guys!

I’m almost there! One more day and the term will be over, and in a week I’ll be back to eating Jamaican beef patties and deli sandwiches. It’s crazy how fast the term went by. At the start of my term, I remembered being a little intimidated. Did I make the right choice? Am I going to fit in here? How long will it take to get homesick? These were some of the questions floating around my mind. After the first week, I got my answer! Yes! You made the right choice, you will fit in and even though you may get homesick you will find things that make you happy. Now that I’m heading back home and I am scared of getting Carleton-sick, I’ll miss the cold weather and the warm people.

I think the best part of my Carleton experience so far is the friendships I’ve made. My friends helped me to relax when I had multiple assignments, supported me when I was having withdrawals from Jamaican beef patties, and accompanied me to get Chic-Fil-A whenever I wanted to. My only regret is not knowing them earlier. Be willing to put yourself out there — some of my closest friendship happened because one of us put our pride aside (usually me). At the same don’t force it.

Learning

I really enjoy learning, and there’s something about Carleton that makes me love it even more. Looking back on my first term, I wish I did not bring my bad habits over to college, and I’m referring to one habit: procrastination. This was the source of the majority of my stress and anxiety at the beginning of the term. I wish I would’ve started my assignments earlier. Regardless, I still managed to get everything done and had a lot of fun doing so. My profs are amazing! I love every one of them and I’m still having a hard time trying to figure out which one is my favorite. I’m very proud of the work that I’ve accomplished over this term, I’m even more excited that you might see them! Be on the lookout for my fact sheet as you run through the arb or the “Globe Up!” journal scattered across campus.

I felt that this was a great term. I experienced tremendous growth, met beautiful souls, and most importantly, had fun doing it all! Here’s to the next 11 terms!

See you next term?
