This week, Alex got some great human interaction and tried new foods!

Another week, another post for all of my wonderful fans! The problem of planning what to do did not overcome me this past week. There was a lot that was done so get your popcorn ready and bunker down for this wild ride!

Last monday:

Banana-Strawberry, Banana-cream with a chocolate base pie

(July 15th, 2019), I celebrated my quarterth birthday (I’m 21.25 years old!) and Linda Mueller (one of our amazing admissions workers and an amazing baker) made a delicious treat for all of us.  So that day for an evening snack, I had some wonderful Banana-Strawberry, Banana-cream with a chocolate base pie. oh, and it had a chocolate drizzle on top of it.Later that day, Kellen (one of the other Admissions Fellows) asked me to replace his tennis racquet with a new grip and gave me some grip to replace it with.  I have no idea how to replace grip but I searched it on the youtube and learned! I also learned that what he gave me was not grip…so off to buy some grip, I did (on amazon that is).

Fast Forward to Wensday (yes, I know),

I volunteered with our security services to *redacted* and then we *classified* but the best part was that I got free El Tri (a delicious restaurant in town) chorizo burrito. Since I’m on a diet this summer, I probably shouldn’t have eaten it all in one sitting (they’re massive) but I did…and it was delicious #NoRagrets

Later that day, I met up with the other fellows and had a wonderful time playing and learning poker (it was my first time!).  Unfortunately, Kellen won big early on and then starting to out-raise us to force a fold.  I often called his bluff and often lost money because of it.  But you can read Ellie’s post about that here. (link TBD)

Thursday

I caught up with one of my old friends from High School and we facetimed for like 6 hours.  It was great! (We gotta meet up soon, Ivy!)

Friday

This was a big day! I took my first half-day off from work for the summer (we get 5 days off unpaid).  One of my friends, Alexa Curtis, works for our Summer Academic Programs and they took their students to the Twins Game in the cities and she had a plus one!  She told me to be ready by 2:30pm (even though the game didn’t start until 7:30…hmm…).  At 2:30, I put in the address for the Target Field Center but she tells me that actually, we’ll be going to a 3-hour presentation beforehand for the students.  Something she conveniently forgot to mention when she invited me.  But nonetheless, excited I was!!! (not about baseball in particular but just to hang out with friends, it was also my first baseball game since I was 6).

There, I got two hot dogs (classic) except one of them was an italian sausage hot dogs (and I love italian sausage) but this was just not meant to be eaten in hot dog form. And Alexa forced me to try hummus and it actually wasn’t all that bad; I ended up helping her finish her giant-sized bowl of chips and hummus.

The rest of the game was fine, except that the Twins lost 3-5 to the Oakland Athletics.  After that, I came home and spend the rest of the night with my best friend, Netflix. (I ended up watching Moneyball, too)

Weekend

I met up with one of my best friends, Halle, as she was visiting before coming back for Fall Term and we got some delicious bagels from tandem bagels.  My order of tennis replacements grips finally came in so I was able to replace Kellen’s racquet and my own which hadn’t been replaced since it’s purchase in 2014.  And for my first time, I don’t think I did that bad!  And I also met up with the mock trial peeps Alexa, Courtney, Halle, and Erica in spirit for some guac and chips.  And finally, I made a youtube video! Check out the link below (it’s not an entertaining video in the least).

That’s about all I got for today, folks! I hope you enjoyed this post, and look below for my media recommendations:

Catch you in the next one,

Alex hails from a small town of 1,856,209 people somewhere within Los Angeles County. Having never been to Minnesota before, the most surprising thing to him was being unprepared for the hot summers. Now majoring in Psychology, Alex has interests in many fields: astronomy, computer science, photography, government, and law. Despite this, he still has no idea what he’s going to do after graduation (only 1 year away). Enjoying his last year at Carleton, Alex hopes to branch out and try new things. Feel free to reach out to him if you want to chat!
