College comes with a lot of independence but, learning how to adequately manage your time is one of the most beneficial skills. Although I am still learning to adjust, I wanted to share what a usual day in my life looks like.
Mornings
8:00 A.M.- Wake up time
Since I am a fan of taking early classes, I like to wake up half an hour before my first class to clear my head of any sleepiness. During this time I usually go to the bathroom, make my bed, drink some water, or go over some class notes.
8:30-9:40 A.M. – French Class
Language classes at Carleton are five days a week, so I attend a class Monday- Friday. This class requires a lot of participation, so being awake and alert really helps me to comprehend what is going on.
9:40-10:30 A.M. – (Break)fast
Right after French class ends, I usually grab breakfast. Since I live in Norse hall, the LDC dinning hall is only a 1 minute walk! I usually take 15-20 minutes to eat, and during this time, I make a mental note of tasks and goals that I have for the day.
10:30-1:00 P.M.- Study time
During this time, I often study for my next class or get ahead on French homework. If some of my friends are not busy, we would meet up in Anderson Hall to study together.
Afternoons
1:00-1:45 PM- Lunch + shows
Going to the dinning hall in between study or class sessions gives me the chance to take a break. When I eat lunch, I usually watch something. Depending on my mood, I would alternate between watching world news, Netflix shows, or YouTube videos.
1:45-3:30 P.M.- Economics
At this time, I have my second class of the day which is Microeconomics. What I find interesting about the course is the way it incorporates social science and mathematics to view the world.
4:00-5:30 P.M. – Dance practice
A class I have starting in college is ballroom dancing! In this class, I learn the basics of Tango, waltz, and so much more. Taking this class has helped me stay physically active in a fun way.
Evenings
5:30-6:30 P.M. – Dinner With Friends + watch the sun set
After dance, I usually grab dinner with some friends, and we catch up with each other. During nice weathers, we would usually walk to the west side of the campus to watch the sunset.
8:30-9:00 P.M- Prefect Session
After dinner, I would look over my notes and make a list of questions for my Economics or French prefect sessions. These sessions are designated for students that have questions with subject related topics.
9:00-11:45 P.M.- Last min study
After these session, I like to go over notes and finish last minute homework.
12:00 A.M. – Bedtime
Since I wake up early the next morning, I usually try to go to bed by 12.
