Arnab Chakladar, Associate Professor of English and Former Director of the Asian Studies program

A Carleton professor since 2007, Arnab Chakladar teaches courses on contemporary South Asian literature and culture, British colonial literature, Caribbean fiction, contemporary postcolonial and postmodern fiction, and Bombay cinema. In Winter 2024 he led an off-campus study program to Mumbai and Seoul.
“I am looking forward to experiencing two of the most dynamic cities in the world with a group of eager and culturally open Carleton students. I expect that for most of us — myself included — this will be an experience unlike any other we’ve had. The textures of the cities, the languages, the foods: all of it will be different from each other and from what most of us are familiar with from our own backgrounds. I can’t wait to explore it all with the group!”
