This section describes situations that may arise, and some suggestions for how to resolve them.
If an error message appears stating that you cannot log into the POP3 mail server, ensure that you have the correct password for the Host mail server or change the password in the Mailbox Settings. Contact your network administrator if you are not sure about your mail server password.
A Pronto Mail folder can disappear when you change to a lower display resolution or can be hidden by other folder windows. If the latter, use the scroll bars on the outer Pronto Mail window to search for windows outside the immediate viewing area.
Infrequently, an incoming corrupt mail message can cause a GPF (General Protection Fault) in Pronto Mail. Attempts to select or open the message result in additional GPFs.
To delete a message in Pronto Mail causing a GPF:
Note
Keep at least one other message in the Inbox folder to prevent an accidental selection of the problem message.
Once you remove the messages from the Inbox folder, they cannot be returned.
If your mail server is not responding, use Ping or MultiNet Tools to see if the server is available on the network.
The dividing line between the header pane and body pane in Pronto Mail disappears if the Active Title Bar color has been set to white. Use the Colors control panel in Pronto Mail to set the Active Title Bar color to another value.
If the Pronto Mail window is not visible, perhaps another application was called to the foreground and is hiding the Pronto Mail window. Press ALT+Tab until Pronto reappears.
Retrieving problems occur when the POP3 server is unavailable to Pronto Mail. Contact your network administrator.
This indicates that the SMTP server is not responding. Pronto Mail uses the SMTP server to send mail. Contact your network administrator.
