Printing Telnet Session Contents

This section describes how to print from a Telnet session, the options are:

Printing Scroll Back Buffer Contents

To print the contents of the scroll back buffer:

  1. Start Telnet as described in "Starting and Stopping Telnet" on page 116.
  2. Select Print from the File menu or click the Print toolbar button.
  3. Click the All radio button from the Page Range group.
  4. If your printer is configured properly, click OK to begin printing; if not, click the Properties button (or the Setup... button in Windows 3.x) to set your printer properties.

You can increase or decrease the scroll back buffer size. The size of the buffer depends on the number of lines specified in the Scroll Back Lines field on the Display tab of the Settings dialog box. The maximum number of lines you can save in the buffer is 32,000, but may be limited by the amount of available memory.

Printing Selected Text

To print text that you select with your cursor:

  1. Start Telnet as described in "Starting and Stopping Telnet" on page 116.
  2. Select the text by clicking and dragging across it with the mouse.
  3. Select Print from the File menu or click the Print toolbar button.
  4. Click the Selected radio button from the Page Range group.
  5. If your printer is configured properly, click OK to begin printing; if not, click the Properties button (or the Setup... button in Windows 3.x) to set your printer properties.

Printing the Current Screen

You can print the contents to the screen by mapping the appropriate keyboard map Print Screen key (labeled PRN on the VT keyboard map, PrtSc on the TN3270 keyboard map, and print on the TN5250 keyboard map) to a key on the PC keyboard. For information on mapping keys, refer to "Mapping Keys" on page 233. After you map a key, press this key to send the contents of the current display to the Windows default printer.

Note

Telnet supports host initiated printing in the VT terminal emulation. Print data from the host will be sent to the Windows default printer.

Printing Pronto Mail Messages

You can print a Pronto Mail message from any folder.

Before attempting to print, you may want to verify that the printer setup is correct. Choose the printer setup command from the Pronto Mail File menu. If the setup is correct:

  1. Select one or more messages you want to print.
  2. Click the Print button on the toolbar or choose the Print command from the File menu.

Printing Enhanced Mosaic Pages

To print an open Enhanced Mosaic document:

  1. Click the Print toolbar button or choose Print from the File menu.

    The Print dialog appears the first time you print. (Otherwise, printing begins immediately.)

  2. If the Print dialog appears, set the printing options as appropriate.

    Click the OK button or press Enter.
