This section lists the error messages reported by the TCP/IP stack. Each message includes a description of the message and suggests ways to resolve the error.

ARP: Changed hardware address for IP address nn.nn.nn.nn
Description: The TCP/IP stack has detected that the IP address specified in the error message has a new hardware address.

Resolution: Verify that the ARP cache reflects the correct hardware address for the specified IP address, or ignore it.

ARP: Host hardware address is broadcast
Description: The TCP/IP stack has detected that the hardware address of the host it is trying to reach is a broadcast address.

Resolution: Verify that the hardware address for the target host is the correct hardware address.

Default Gateway ioctl failed
Description: The default route is either missing from MULTINET.INI or is incorrect.

Resolution: Verify that the default route, host IP address, and network mask are correct in the Configuration Utility.

Duplicate IP address detected
Description: The TCP/IP stack has detected one IP address with two hardware addresses.

Resolution: Identify the host with the incorrect IP address and correct it.

Resolution: Close any open applications, exit Windows, and reboot your workstation. Contact Cisco Technical Support.

Initialization of Cisco TCP/IP Suite Kernel failed
Description: The TCP/IP stack has detected a problem with system files or with stack configuration.

Resolution: Using the Configuration Utility, delete the enabled interface and add it to the configuration again. Contact Cisco Technical Support if the problem persists.

Initialization of system timer failed
Description: Windows is out of resources.

Resolution: Reboot your workstation. Contact Cisco Technical Support if the problem persists.

Initialization of VMULTINT.386 failed
Description: The TCP/IP stack has detected a problem with system files or with stack configuration.

Resolution: Using the Configuration Utility, delete the enabled interface and add it to the configuration again. Contact Cisco Technical Support if the problem persists.

Interface n: Broadcast Address ioctl failed

Resolution: Verify that the IP address is correct in the Configuration Utility.

Interface n: wrong Net Mask
Description: The subnet mask is either missing from MULTINET.INI or is incorrect.

Resolution: Verify that the network mask and IP address are correct in the Configuration Utility.

Loading TGVMOD.MOD failed
Description: TGVMOD.MOD is either missing or corrupt, or does not have sufficient DOS memory to load properly.

Resolution: For Windows 3.x, make sure TGVMOD.MOD is in the DOS path. If you cannot locate TGVMOD.MOD, reinstall the Cisco TCP/IP Suite Stack for Windows. For both Windows 95 and Windows 3.x, make sure your system has sufficient DOS memory. Close any unused applications to free memory.

mbuf map full
Description: The TCP/IP stack does not have enough memory to complete the requested action.

Resolution: Make sure that your system has sufficient memory. Close any unused applications to free memory. Contact Cisco Technical Support if the problem persists.

Memory allocation failed
Description: The TCP/IP stack does not have sufficient DOS memory to operate properly.

Resolution: Make sure that your system has sufficient DOS memory. Reboot your workstation. Contact Cisco Technical Support if the problem persists.

No available Callout structures
Description: The TCP/IP stack does not have enough memory to complete the requested action.

Resolution: Make sure that your system has sufficient memory. Close any unused applications to free memory. Contact Cisco Technical Support if the problem persists.
