Setting Up the Host Table

To create a host table, use the Host Table tab in the Configuration Utility.

Adding Entries to the Host Table

To add a new entry to the host table:

  1. Start the Configuration Utility and choose the Host Table tab.
  2. Click the New button. The New Host dialog box appears.
  3. In the Host Name field, enter the name of the remote host. The domain name is not required.
  4. In the IP Address field, enter the IP address of the remote host.
  5. In the Description field, enter information you would like to associate with the host. For example, you might indicate that the host supports your Accounting department or Marketing group. This information is optional.
  6. In the Aliases combo box, enter alternate names by which the host should be recognized. For example, a host with the name WILLOW.YOYODYNE.COM might also be recognized as WILLOW. This information is optional.
  7. To add the alternate name to the list of aliases for that host, click Add.
  8. Click OK. The entry appears in the host table.
  9. When finished with the Configuration Utility, click Done and save your changes.

Modifying a Host Table Entry

To modify an entry in the host table:

  1. Start the Configuration Utility and choose the Host Table tab.
  2. In the host table, select the entry you want to modify.
  3. Click the Modify button. The Modify Host dialog box appears.
  4. Modify the host table entry as desired.

    To modify an entry in the Aliases combo box, you must delete the incorrect entry and then enter the correct entry. You cannot modify an entry directly.

    To delete an entry from the Aliases combo box, select the entry and then click Delete.

  5. Click OK.
  6. When finished with the Configuration Utility, click Done and save your changes.

Deleting a Host Table Entry

To delete an entry from the host table:

  1. Start the Configuration Utility and choose the Host Table tab.
  2. In the host table, select the entry you want to delete.
  3. Click Delete.
  4. When prompted, click Yes to confirm the deletion.
  5. When finished with the Configuration Utility, click Done and save your changes.
