Switching between LAN and Serial Interfaces

You can switch between LAN connectivity and serial connectivity by selectively enabling the different interfaces. However, because you can have both a LAN and serial interface active at the same time, switching between them is not necessary.

Before switching between a LAN and a serial interface, you must have added both a LAN and a serial interface. To add an interface, see "Adding a New Interface" on page 177.

To change from one interface to another:

  1. Start the Configuration Utility and choose the Interface tab.
  2. Select the interface you want to use.
  3. Click the Modify button.
  4. Check Enable Interface.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Select the interface you were using (serial or LAN).
  7. Click the Modify button.
  8. Clear Enable Interface.
  9. Click OK.
  10. When finished with the Configuration Utility, click Done and save your changes.
