The trip started off in Amnicon Falls State Park in Wisconsin.
Cam got us started on a problem to figure out the mystery in the rocks there.

He explained how to take strikes and dips on a lot of rock surfaces, and why you might want to do that.

Then we headed off into the woods on our own to figure it out.

And a little while later we had to try and explain it!
Here Nick takes a stab at it...

And then Mike set us straight.

After lunch we moved on to Lake Superior. Here Bereket
tells about the lavas we're looking at along the shore.

Sarina and Christina try a boulder out for size.

We had a good discussion about where the lava came from and how very old it is.

Next morning it was COLD. But a little cocoa did wonders for our spirits.
This is Molly, drinking from Amphibole.

We camped at Gooseberry Falls State Park on the North Shore of Lake Superior.
Breakfast was mostly cocoa and cereal.
