Gabe thought the action got a little slow. When we saw him juggling
rock hammers we knew we'd better step up the pace.

Next we took a look at a soil profile on a sand plain in a pine plantation near Gwinn.

Nick and Leah

Mary led the discussion.

Tuesday we went to Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore to see the sand dunes.
Here Dave and Christina study how the blades of grass trap sand blowing in the wind.

The dunes are over 100 feet high. Tara and Bess climb back up.

They looked even higher from the bottom!

The Girl Scout camp was a great place to stay. It was warm and dry.
We ate and studied in the dining hall.

And, the good children that we are, we brushed our teeth at bed time.

On the way home we took a rest break at the marker located at 90 degrees west longitude and 45 degrees north latitude.
The stack of snowballs marks the exact spot. A natural place for a group shot!
