It was a long bus ride over to Marquette, Michigan. It took
all day. About 5 hours into the trip we started getting creative.

Our first stop was the famous quarry behind the Marquette Prison.

Will shows off the great stromatolites in the quarry wall.

Tim stands at the nucleus of an even more ginormous stromatolite.

We sketched the structure on the drawing pad.

Then it was off to Lighthouse Point to map the many intrusions there.

Cam helped people figure it out. The waves were impressive.

The next day we went to Presque Isle Park on the north side of Marquette,
to have a look at the large peridotite outcrop along the shore.

Bess and Nick check it out...

It was a cool outcrop but a very blustery day. Sean, Sarah,
Andrew, Tara and Annaliese huddle against the wind.

Dave, Cam and Jenn marvel at the exceptional size of this unusual outcrop.

Nancy and Christina look at the ripple marks in the roadcut at Negaunee.

Nick points out a little dike.
