The next stop was made possible by an accident in which the Taum Sauk upper reservoir breached in December, 2005, releasing over a billion gallons of water down the mountain. A huge scour channel 600 feet wide by a mile and a half long was created with the best bedrock exposure in all of Missouri. (USGS photo)
