The outcrop face in this limestone quarry had been cut so smooth by the quarrying operation that Dave could highlight the structures in the face with a magic marker as if it were a colored blackboard.

Dave and Sandro check out the operation in a Tuscan quarry which quarries very high quality marble. Marble from this formation was used by Michelangelo for his sculpture of David.

Group shot in the marble quarry.

Scott baited the outcrop with chocolate bars to lure geo students.

Sandro made music with his harmonica during the lunch stop on the Marmolada Glacier.

Breakfast came early for Ned and Dave. In the foreground is the double-barrel capucino stove.

And now for some scenes around Coldigioco. This is Scott in the piaza near the dining hall.

Italy has a long tradition of violin making. Here Tim does his bit, replacing the strings on a violin belonging to one of Sandro's friends.
